Gurpreet manages the Brussels office and Edelman’s European Public Affairs offering. He previously led London’s Public Affairs practice, where he built out offers for purpose advocacy, government affairs and campaigning.
Before joining Edelman in 2014, Gurpreet was Chief of Staff to Lord Turner at the Financial Services Authority and has worked in many different roles across Westminster.
Alongside running the Brussels team, Gurpreet advises clients on how best to manage issues and put their best foot forward through creative grassroots campaigning.
Amanda has been with Edelman for more than a decade, previously as a member of the Washington, DC Public Affairs team. She is a proven leader of successful teams with experience supporting clients across industries, including food & beverage, non-profits, environment, higher education, health and technology, around crisis preparedness, issues management, media strategy and outreach, internal communications, executive engagement and influencer engagement. Amanda has been embedded with a number of clients in campaign and crisis situations, providing on-the-ground issues management and internal and external communications support to protect and promote their reputations. She was a part of Edelman’s Global Fellows program working in Moscow, Russia, where she managed a multi-office team across six countries on a media relations program and conducted corporate communications and crisis trainings.
George brings over 25 years of corporate communications, ad agency, consulting and NGO leadership experience to the Brussels team. He has advised commercial clients in sectors ranging from tech to media and healthcare. He has also worked with numerous NGOs and foundation on issues relating to public health, safety, the environment and community engagement. In his prior roles as EVP at the Advertising Council, the leading producer of public service communications campaigns in the U.S., and as principal of a boutique consultancy, he has honed his skills in marketing, communications, market research, strategic planning and program evaluation. George also served three years as inaugural adjunct professor of marketing for the new MBA in Sustainability program at Bard College (New York).
Kristin has a joint role between the Brussels and London offices. She designs and delivers multi-market advocacy and engagement strategies, and advises clients on business-critical issues. She brings with her a background supporting clients in a range of sectors including food, consumer products, infrastructure and technology.
Prior to joining Edelman, Kristin worked for an international agency where she focused on issues and crisis counsel as well as managing multi-market campaigns. Previously, Kristin worked at a digital and management consultancy in Los Angeles and at public affairs consultancy in Berlin. She started her career in corporate affairs serving in the European headquarters of American food ingredients company in Brussels.
Kristin holds a double master degree in Global Media and Communications from the London School of Economics and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in European Studies and Economics from the University of Osnabrück, Germany. She is fluent in English and German, speaks conversational Spanish and has a basic understanding of Danish, Dutch, French and Norwegian.
Joao Carmona is an Account Executive at Edelman’s Public Affairs practice in Brussels. Previously, he worked at the European Commission on Horizon 2020 and Research & Innovation policy-making.
Joao has over 3 years’ experience at leading global communication consultancies, where he successfully assisted international brands, trade associations, NGOs, academics and the media achieving common policy and reputation goals across the Tech, Agri-food and Environment industries.
With a background in Communication and Political Science, Joao volunteered as a journalist in Macedonia and studied in the United States, Germany, Poland and Portugal. Joao was born in Lisbon and is passionate about hiking and swimming at the beach.
Susan recently earned her MA Political Communication at the University of Antwerp. Before that she studied Communication at the University of applied sciences Arnhem and Nijmegen, in the Netherlands where she is from. With a previous internship she experienced what it is like to work for a Public Relations agency. There she mainly focused on the online presence of organizations and the impact of such. Currently she joined the Public Relations team for Edelman.
Sunniva supports clients in food and beverages, as well as financial services. Her academic background in EU law, competition matters and economics has given her a strong insight into the consumer perspective. Sunniva has in-depth experience of the operations of EU institutions: she has been assistant to the S&D Group President at the European Parliament, and worked at both the Council of the EU and the European Free Trade Association. Sunniva considers herself a ‘true child of Europe’ – an Italian-Norwegian, born and raised in Brussels, a native French speaker, fluent in English and Italian.
Lana joined Edelman in 2018 after having completed her MA studies at the College of Europe in Bruges. During her year at the College, Lana joined the competition co-organised by a Brussels-based think tank and an international consulting firm, where she was advising the City of Torino in implementing blockchain-based innovation in public services.
Before that, she completed a traineeship in the Croatian Government and a Blue book traineeship at the Secretariat-General of the Commission. Having completed her previous MA studies in international relations and public policy and BA in journalism in Belgium, Italy and native Croatia, Lana is fluent in French and Italian, and has an intermediate level of Russian. Passionate about energy policy and geopolitics, Lana volunteered in the Croatian Parliament’s NATO PA delegation, as well as in migrant integration for an international NGO in Brussels.
Iva Galović is a communication expert with background in public relations, journalism and project and event management. Brussels-based since 2015, Iva has gained her professional experience mostly in Croatia, with some of her work being a project manager for the ‘Discover Croatia’ project and an assistant to the Member of the European Parliament.
She has international working experience in Shanghai, China, where she worked for Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs at the world exhibition EXPO 2010 as well as in Bangkok, Thailand.
Before joining Edelman, Iva worked as a PR Consultant and Project Leader at Scholz & Friends European Office where she worked on different communication campaigns for EU institutions.
Native Croatian, Iva is fluent in English, German and Russian with good knowledge of French.
Jeremy joined the Edelman Brussels office in July, 2018. His expertise lies in corporate communications, crisis communications, restructurings, media relations and reputation management. In the past nine years, Jeremy has advised (inter)national companies and organizations, as well as federal and regional administrations. He has led media trainings, messaging workshops and crisis simulations.
Jeremy has a strong track record in corporate communications. His skills in media relations stem from his experience as a freelance journalist for two Belgian daily newspapers.
Jeremy holds a Master’s Degree in Corporate communication and public relations (cum laude) from Université catholique de Louvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. His master’s dissertation demonstrates the correlation between the reputation of a company and the reputation of its Chief Executive Officer.
Jeremy is a native French speaker, fluent both in English and Dutch.
Julia is a driven and analytically minded young professional with a passion for communications, the digital world, and cross-cultural cooperation. She focuses on creating engaging digital content for a variety of clients at Edelman Brussels.
Before Edelman, Julia has worked in both public and private sector communications roles, including a stint with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). She studied overseas in both Seville and Berkeley where she learned to collaborate with international colleagues and peers. Most recently, she completed her M.Ed at the University of Cologne. She is especially interested in crafting educational and informative content in a wide variety of formats.
Julia is a native German speaker. She is fluent in English and Spanish and has an intermediate level of French.
Giulia has recently joined Edelman as Public Affairs Intern. Previously, she has worked for a EU affairs lobby in Brussels, specialized in secondary legislation and has been intern for an Italian MEP at the European Parliament.
She has graduated in Law in Rome at the Luiss Guido Carli University where she focused primarily on EU and International Law but then shifted to policy and completed a MA in Political and Administrative Studies at the College of Europe in Bruges. She wrote her Thesis in the domain of policy making in the EU with a focus in the Energy sector.
Giulia is a native Italian speaker. She is fluent in English and French and has a beginner level of German.
Olalla Pruneda advises clients on EU and international public policy, government relations and strategic communications issues. Previously, she worked with an international consultancy based in Beijing where she assisted corporate and non-profit clients on their stakeholder engagement and government affairs strategies, issue management and corporate communications.
Olalla has also worked with global non-profits and research firms conducting public policy research and supporting advocacy campaigns in Europe and Asia focusing on child rights issues, institutional capacity building and global health challenges.
She holds master’s degrees in international public policy from the University College London and in Chinese studies from the London School of Economics.
Before joining Edelman, Timea was volunteering in an international non-governmental organization in the field of governance and sustainable development in Hanoi, Vietnam. She gained further experience in various public affairs and research positions, including a Bluebook Traineeship at the Directorate General for Budget of the European Commission. She holds an MA degree in international relations from the Central European University in Hungary, and another MA degree in European studies from the University of Pavol Jozef Safarik in Slovakia.
Timea is originally from the Hungarian minority in Slovakia, but she has also worked or studied in the UK, France, Belgium, Hungary and Vietnam. She is fluent in Slovak, Hungarian and English and has an intermediate level of French.
Gabrielle is a young professional who recently graduated from a master degree in international relations. Before that, she studied communications in Paris and worked in public relations for various entities, notably at the French Ministry of Defence and in communications agencies.
A lawyer by background, Markus joined Edelman from the global law firm DLA Piper. Previously, he ran his family owned import-export business out of Vancouver. He also has experience working on trade related issues with the Canadian Mission to the EU – where he facilitated engagement with EU stakeholders – and with the European Institute of Public Administration in Maastricht, where he focused on the training of EU officials and public affairs professionals.
Adam joined Edelman after having worked as a journalist in Barcelona, his hometown, and in Brussels. He provides EU advocacy and communications support to energy, food and technology clients and has a real zeal for Digital Public Affairs. He has worked in communications at the European Parliament and spent time with a Brussels-based think tank. Adam is a devoted ‘cinephile’ and an aspiring chef.
Having joined Edelman from an international law firm in Brussels, Federica has extensive experience in EU Regulatory and Government Affairs. She has been involved in the management of a European Association as well as in the development of Public Affairs activities in different areas, particularly in the field of data protection and digital technologies. She is experienced in coordinating multi-stakeholder engagement with policy-makers and has supported foreign governments and diplomatic missions in the field of media communication and public affairs. Federica’s understanding of the EU public policy landscape is rooted in her studies in international relations. An Italian national who grew up close to the Alps, she is an outdoor lover and keen traveler.
Sarah joined the Brussels’ technology team in August 2016 after completing her Master’s degree at the College of Europe and Sciences Po Bordeaux and a stint in public affairs in Paris. Sarah’s studies were steeped in technology policy: she was a member of the College’s Digital Student Group ‘CoEnnect’, wrote her thesis on Geo‐blocking of Digital Content, and took part in a competition organised by the Lisbon Council assessing the Open Data Strategy of the Spanish government. Born in Saint-Etienne, France, she plays tennis at competition-level since the age of 10.
Rowan works across our teams advising on digital and social media strategy. His previously worked with a variety of start-ups, NGOs and foundations all over the world. He joined the Brussels team from Berlin and has lived and worked in the UK, Uganda and Kenya. He has a Master of Public Policy from the Hertie School of Governance and a BSc from the University of Bath. When he isn’t doing something online, he’s probably cooking or writing.
Xavier leads Edelman’s IT operations for Europe, Middle-East and Africa, focusing particularly on service delivery and infrastructure. A true IT all-rounder, Xavier has been an IT business partner at Edelman for over a decade. He has vast experience in IT integrations and standardisation during M&As. Xavier also has a keen interest in data privacy. Belgian of origin but European in terms of languages, colleagues and travel, Xavier is a sports junkie, especially addicted to golf, cycling and running.
Thierry is responsible for accounting and financial reporting. Before joining Edelman, he was financial controller for an international bank and for an insurance company. Thierry has worked in the media sector and has taught economics. Thierry has a degree in Applied Economic Sciences with a Major in Finance and Accounting from UCL in Louvain-la-Neuve. With roots in his native Belgium’s cycling and Tour de France history, Thierry is a devoted football supporter and office foosball player.
Catherine takes care of Finance, HR and Administration for Edelman’s Brussels office. With twenty years of sector experience, she works closely with the Brussels team and with colleagues worldwide to ensure all operations run smoothly. Catherine previously worked for The Centre and has also worked for another global agency. With her origins in the U.K., Catherine has been in Brussels for two decades but when the opportunity arises she escapes to the peace of the mountains.
Lucy was Deputy Director of Britain Stronger In Europe, the campaign to remain in the EU in the recent referendum where she was one of the campaign’s main spokespeople. Lucy is a former BBC journalist, covering EU politics in Brussels. She is part of Edelman’s Brexit team.
Will leads Edelman UK’s Public Affairs practice – a 20 strong team of policy, campaigns, communications and government relations specialists with unparalleled experience and insight across the UK’s political landscape. Before joining Edelman, Will spent five years as Director of Communications for Foreign Secretary and former Mayor of London Boris Johnson. He is part of Edelman’s Brexit team.
Amaia leads the energy, industrials and sustainability work in Brussels. Her long experience in advising a broad portfolio of clients on their communications strategies towards EU and national decision-makers and influencers has included several award winning campaigns. Before her consulting career, Amaia was a member of the EU’s Economic and Social Committee (EESC) for six years representing a trade union. Proud of her Basque heritage, Amaia is passionate about women’s rights and particularly girls’ access to education. She loves reading and travelling as well as spending time in San Sebastian with her family and friends
